Dance played a very important role in Native American tribes. People danced for many occasions and ceremonies. Weddings, like the one on the image below, were usually very festive and Many tribes in many regions celebrated the harvest. One of the most important crops was corn, so the corn harvest was often celebrated through dance. Usually people danced and chanted to the beat of the drum. Dance was also used in many ceremonies such as the Sun dance and the Rain dance. Even shamans sometimes used dance to call the spirits to heal the sick and wounded. During these festivals the people painted their faces white to represent happiness. They danced, played games,and thank spirits for good harvest.

Medicine Man
This is a unique concept that existed in all American Native tribes. Each tribe would have certain special holy men known as Maya Shamans. They were like priests for the tribe. They would perform certain superstitious rituals for the purpose of healing patients suffering from various illnesses.

Potlatch
A potlach ceremony is something that a wealthy native american would hold for hundreds of people, catering to them. It woulf often last for 10 days or more, and could ruin the host. It is also sometimes accompanied by gift giving. This was many Native Amrican Trib"es main economic system. It's purpose was the re-distribution of wealth. THis type of economic system hs been banned by the U.S. Federal Gvenment and the Canadian Government.
